According to our Regina Ternus and Susanne Barker of the Victoria Flower Arrangers Guild, colour is the first impression and reflects the general emotion of floral design. Understanding how to use colour to create an overall look is a complex and evolving area of studying. Knowing how and when to use the first 5 basic colour harmonies; monochromatic, analogous, triadic, complementary, and polychromatic is the starting point.
Regina Ternus has been an active member of the Victoria Floral Artists Guild. She first became interested in flower arranging to better use flowers from her garden. Regina has studied with several floral design teachers, participates in flower shows and currently is the Program Chair for the Guild.
Susanne Barkers interest in flower arranging started from photographing member’s designs and evolved into flower designs of her own. She has entered several flower shows, participated in many Guild Workshops and been a Director on the Board, and is currently the Vice President of the Guild.
