February/March To-Do List

  • Buy seeds while there is still a good selection available

  • Prune trees and bushes while they are still dormant

  • Start leeks, onions, and celery from seed (indoors) in February

  • Start tomatoes, peppers, sweet peas, early cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli (indoors) in March

  • Plant peas, broad beans, onion sets and strawberries in early spring

  • Dig remaining carrots, beets, and other roots from the vegetable garden before they start to grow

  • Keep harvesting and enjoying winter kale, chard, and other greens

  • Fertilize perennials and garlic – top dress with compost

  • Cut back perennials and apply mulch

  • Cut back group 3 clematis in March

  • Lift and divide snowdrops in March after the flowers fade but the foliage is still there

  • Enjoy your spring bulbs!
