Weed! Weed! Weed!
Buy/organize seeds, pots, potting mixes, grow lights, etc.
Prepare beds for spring planting – add compost and dust with lime (skip the lime where potatoes will be growing)
Prune late-flowering trees and shrubs – wait until after flowering to prune early bloomers
Prune fruit trees/bushes/vines before the buds swell
Plant bare-root trees and shrubs
Fertilize garlic by top dressing with compost
Finish dividing/moving perennials
Cut back and fertilize perennials, and apply mulch
Lift and divide bulbs after the flowers fade but before the foliage dies
Plant vegetable/flower seeds and seedlings in accordance with local planting guides
Harvest overwintered root vegetables before they go to seed
Continue enjoying brassicas and greens that survived the winter cold
Take pleasure in the all the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes that herald the end of winter and the start of another growing season!
